ARCHANA RAO’S SUN AND MOON COLLECTION SHOWCASED AT LAKMĒ FASHION WEEK 2024 x FDCI

When a collection is titled “Sun and Moon” the inspiration of the contrasting celestial bodies will be reflected in the visuals of the ensembles. Archana Rao looked to the heavens for her creative guidance and her “Sun and Moon” line at Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI, was an intense study in stark differences that ended in a fashionable harmony between the two.

The event took place at Jio World Convention Centre, situated at Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. Jio World Convention Centre is one of India’s foremost convention & exhibition centres and a leading destination for conventions, exhibitions and social events spanning over 1 million sq.ft. Since its launch in Mar 2022, the Centre has hosted over 1300+ events and experienced a footfall over 2.5 million.

The Archana Rao brand has always followed the “Less is More” diktat, so the result of the look was an attention to minimalism but with an impactful direction.

The silhouettes were stark, yet strong and obviously enhanced with the sun and moon motifs, along with the brand’s favourite florals and illustrations. Creatively embellished with Swarovski crystals and intense appliqués, the floral embroidery was dappled with delicate pearls that created a timeless appeal.

The colour story reflected the hues of the inspiration, as Archana’s signature ivory moved effortlessly to gold and dusty pink, while midnight blue and deep black had to be the canvas that projected the stylish dance of day and night.

Fabrics revolved around pure luxe options as silk satin, organza and faux leather accentuated the glamorous presentation. There was an easy clutter free vibe of wearable separates with a unique approach to construction.

Buyers who enjoy wearing statement making fashion, will desire the creations of the “Sun and Moon” collection by Archana Rao, since they undoubtedly resonated with the fashion ethos of the coming season.

Designer Archana Rao shared, “As a designer, I have embraced the clutter-free aesthetic, reflected in the concept-driven approach to wearable separates, each with its own unique twist. Like the sun and moon, which we may see every day but often overlook, this collection is designed to evoke a sense of simplicity and natural beauty, inviting a deeper appreciation for its subtle yet striking elements.”
