Nanda Yadav: Grace, Grit, and a Deep Love for Storytelling

Actress Nanda Yadav isn’t just a rising star in the entertainment industry—she’s a storyteller at heart. With a career rooted in classical art and blossoming on the big screen, her journey is as inspiring as it is authentic. In this exclusive Fashion Herald interview, she opens up about her path to acting, her fashion sensibilities, and how she keeps it real amidst the whirlwind of stardom.

“Acting is Who I Am”: Nanda Yadav on Her Journey into Cinema

“The moment I knew I wanted to be an actress wasn’t a lightning bolt—it was a series of quiet sparks,” Nanda says with a warm smile. Her roots in Bharatanatyam gave her an early taste of storytelling through expression. But it was during her time at Delhi University, while immersing herself in theatre, that her love for acting truly crystallized.

“The rehearsal rooms, the rawness of live performance—it all lit a fire in me,” she reflects. “Acting became my way of understanding the world. And myself.”

Her Most Challenging Role Yet? A Journey into Silence and Strength

When asked about her most demanding role so far, Nanda immediately brings up her film Shantiniketan.

“The character carried the weight of unspoken trauma,” she shares. “I had to say everything without saying much. It cracked something open in me.”

Through the experience, she learned a powerful lesson: “Vulnerability doesn’t always have to be loud. And truth, when felt deeply, always finds its way through.”

From Screen to Street: Nanda Yadav Fashion Flow

Style isn’t just surface-level for Nanda—it’s an extension of the characters she plays.

“Each role brings a unique aesthetic, and slipping into their wardrobe often sparks ideas for my own style,” she explains. “If I’ve been in earthy cotton saris, I start leaning toward that vibe in real life too.”

While she describes her personal style as a “chameleon,” one thing stays constant: it must tell a story. “Whether structured or fluid, edgy or elegant—it has to feel like something, not just look like something.”

A Beauty Routine That’s All About Balance

Life on sets and red carpets demands a smart, skin-first beauty routine—and Nanda’s got hers down to an art:

  • A gentle double cleanse with micellar water and hydrating face wash
  • Hyaluronic acid serum and nourishing moisturizer
  • SPF every day (non-negotiable!)
  • A dewy, minimal base with a pop of bold lip if the mood strikes
  • Leave-in hair serum and quick oil massages for hair TLC
  • A protein-rich diet (think eggs, lentils, nuts, and smoothies)
  • And her holy grails: hydration, sleep, and the occasional jade roller moment

“It’s self-care disguised as skincare,” she jokes.

Mental Health Matters: A Nanda Yadav Rituals for Well-Being

In an industry known for its chaos, Nanda carves out quiet corners of calm. “Nature, tea, music—sometimes just stillness. That’s how I reset.”

But what truly keeps her centered is learning. “Whether it’s a new dance form, language, or just a great book, it reminds me that I’m more than just my work.”

Add journaling, meditation, and meaningful conversations to the mix, and you get a grounded artist who’s fully in touch with herself.

The Evolving Landscape of Women in Cinema

Nanda’s eyes light up when talking about the changing tide in the film industry.

“We’re finally seeing layered, complex, real women on screen—women who are not just accessories to a story, but the story,” she says.

She credits the surge of female writers, directors, and producers as a pivotal force behind this shift. “When women tell women’s stories, the depth and truth is undeniable.”

While she acknowledges that there’s still a long road ahead for diverse representation, she remains optimistic: “The roles coming up now challenge me as an actor and excite me as a viewer. I feel proud to be part of this change.”
