Lakme Fashion Week 2024: Day 2 Shines a Light on Sustainable Style

The second day of Lakme Fashion Week 2024, held in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), was a celebration of eco-conscious clothing and innovation. Titled “Sustainable Fashion Day,” the event showcased designers who are pushing the boundaries of fashion while keeping the environment in mind.

Locally Sourced and Eco-Friendly Designs Take Center Stage

The runway buzzed with vibrant collections crafted from locally sourced fabrics and featuring eco-friendly processes. Designers like Inca, Chola, and Urvashi Kaur presented their unique takes on sustainable fashion.

Dia Mirza Stuns as Showstopper for Inca

Actor Dia Mirza stole the show as the showstopper for Inca India. Mirza walked the ramp in a regal all-black ensemble from their “Love is a Verb” collection. The collection, inspired by upcycled materials and traditional craft techniques, resonated with the event’s theme.

A Celebration of Craft and Sustainable Materials

Many designers experimented with innovative materials derived from sustainable sources. From silk and satin crafted from byproducts like rubber and sugarcane to co-ord sets inspired by terrazzo flooring, the day offered a glimpse into the future of sustainable fashion.

Beyond the Runway: A Focus on Sustainability

Lakme Fashion Week 2024 isn’t just about the clothes. The event organizers are also placing a strong emphasis on sustainability throughout the entire process. This includes using eco-friendly materials for set design, promoting responsible waste management practices, and showcasing designers who are committed to ethical production methods.

Lakme Fashion Week 2024 is proving that style and sustainability can go hand in hand. Day two offered a glimpse into the future of fashion, where conscious clothing choices and environmental responsibility take center stage.
