Anora Takes Home Best Picture at Critics Choice Awards; Brody and Moore Shine in Acting Categories

Los Angeles, CA – The 2025 Critics Choice Awards concluded with a night full of surprises and heartfelt celebrations, crowning “Anora” as the Best Picture. The film, directed by newcomer Zoe Kravitz, has been lauded for its innovative storytelling and profound character development, weaving a narrative that has resonated deeply with both critics and audiences alike.

In a stunning upset, Adrien Brody claimed the Best Actor award for his role in “The Silent Room,” a psychological thriller that showcases his versatility and depth as an actor. Brody’s portrayal of a man battling his inner demons while navigating a complex legal system has been described as “the performance of his career,” according to several critics. His acceptance speech was emotional, thanking his family, the creative team, and especially the critics for recognizing his work.

Equally surprising was the Best Actress win for Demi Moore, who has made a remarkable comeback with her role in the drama “Echoes of Silence.” Moore, who had been away from the spotlight for several years, delivered a performance that was both haunting and humanizing, playing a woman coming to terms with her past. In her acceptance speech, she dedicated the award to her late mother, emphasizing the personal significance of the role and the support she received from her peers.

“Anora” also picked up several other awards, including Best Director for Zoe Kravitz, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Cinematography, underscoring its sweep across multiple categories. The film’s success at the Critics’ Choice Awards speaks volumes about its potential impact at other upcoming award ceremonies.

Other notableat winners at Critics Choice Awards 2025 included:

Best Supporting Actor: Timothée Chalamet for “The Last Voyage”
Best Supporting Actress: Saoirse Ronan for “Echoes of Silence”
Best Animated Feature: “The Wandering Moon”
Best Foreign Language Film: “The Scent of Rain” from South Korea

The evening was not just about awards; it was a celebration of cinema’s power to tell diverse stories and the artists who bring those stories to life. With performances, speeches, and moments of genuine camaraderie among the nominees, the Critics’ Choice Awards once again proved to be a highlight in the awards season calendar.

As the film industry looks ahead to the Oscars, “Anora,” Brody, and Moore stand out as frontrunners, setting the stage for what could be one of the most competitive Oscars in recent years. The film community worldwide will be watching closely, eager to see if the momentum from the Critics’ Choice Awards carries over into even greater recognition.
