Danielle Vlahos: Redefining Glamour with Starielle Romantic Revival

When you think of Australian fashion, names like Danielle Vlahos instantly stand out for their unapologetic embrace of glamour, romance, and individuality. The Sydney-based designer, once the creative force behind the globally celebrated label Portia and Scarlett, has now stepped into a new era with her latest venture — Starielle. And if her recent runway show at New York Fashion Week by Art Hearts Fashion is anything to go by, Vlahos is painting her own celestial path in the world of couture.

“I’ve always been more of a creative,” Danielle shares, reflecting on her early days. “Even though I studied accounting and business management at the University of Technology Sydney and owned my own store, The Dollhouse, fashion was always where my heart was.” That instinct for beauty and detail soon evolved into Portia and Scarlett, a brand synonymous with luxury eveningwear. After years of success, Vlahos decided it was time to create something more personal — Starielle, a label she describes as “built on exclusivity, glamour, and for girls that want to shine every time they step out in a dress.”

A Collection Inspired by Romance and Dreamscapes

At New York Fashion Week, Starielle made a dazzling debut. The collection shimmered with ethereal femininity — think cascading ruffles, soft pastels, intricate embellishments, and silhouettes that capture light with every movement.

“The inspiration behind this collection is deeply rooted in romance and femininity,” Danielle explains. “I wanted every piece to feel like a dream — powerful, but not overly sweet.” Each gown, from the crystal-draped bodices to the flowing chiffon trains, echoed her devotion to creating moments, not just garments. “Whether it’s prom, a gala, or a red-carpet entrance — it’s about celebrating those unforgettable moments.”

StarielleSustainability Meets Exclusivity

At a time when fashion often struggles between artistry and ethics, Starielle strikes a thoughtful balance. The brand’s “made-to-order” model ensures minimal waste and maximum individuality.

“At Starielle, our gowns are made in very limited quantities,” Danielle says. “We only create what is needed, which not only helps reduce waste but keeps every piece rare and special.” It’s couture with conscience — every sequin and stitch crafted to make both the wearer and the planet breathe easier.

Empowering Through Inclusivity

Inclusivity isn’t a buzzword for Danielle; it’s a design philosophy. “Our dresses can be made up to size US 18,” she says. “But inclusivity isn’t just about more sizes — it’s about creating designs that make you feel beautiful, confident, and powerful.” Her silhouettes are crafted to highlight curves, celebrate femininity, and remind every woman that beauty has no size limit.

StarielleRunway Ready, Real-World Relatable

Though Starielle gowns are built for statement moments, Danielle loves seeing her creations styled off the runway. “I adore when girls make them their own — pairing them with gloves, capes, shawls, or bold accessories,” she says. “Fashion should always be a story, and I love seeing how they tell theirs.”

With Starielle, Danielle Vlahos is not just designing dresses — she’s designing confidence. Each gown is a nod to the timeless allure of romance, yet rooted firmly in today’s modern sensibilities of sustainability and inclusivity.

As the brand continues to captivate runways and red carpets, one thing is certain — Danielle’s vision for Starielle is as luminous as the women who wear it.
