Sana Dua | October Feature Girl

top fashion lifestyle magazine delhi lucknow mumbai

What are the three words that describe you ?

Well, the three words that describe me! I’m humble because I believe that’s the quality that makes you a star not a celebrity! It’s so important to be grounded! I’m Driven. I want to make the most of life. Life is so short. I want to work, travel, create memories, fall in love, be able to give back, all at the same time! I’m honest and sincere. I think any and every relationship I create be it professional or personal requires that and I abide by it!

How did you start your journey in the fashion industry ?

Well honestly, Like I said I want to make the most of life. I was just another girl pursuing her studies. I remember I was in my last semester of Law and I spoke to my friend about my keen interest to participate in Miss India. I was always so skeptical considering “log kya kahenge” but I didn’t ever want to leave a regret behind so I just went for it! It took me about two years to make it and it did require a lot of hardwork but I’m definitely proud of that girl who took the plunge !

What are the things that you are most passionate about ?

I’m passionate about my relationships, I’m passionate about my work and all that I want to build. I’m passionate about learning and about expanding my horizons & mostly I’m passionate about exploring what life has in store for me!

You are not only the prestigious winner of Femina Miss India title but you are the Face of Election Commission Jammu & Kashmir, running your own Grooming and Talent Management Firm and a talent partner to the Miss India Organization as well! How challenging is your job ?

Honestly, the biggest responsibility I carry is to be able to inspire the people who look upto me and positively impact their lives, especially the youth. It’s so important to be a good idol and to actually be able add value to their lives. I feel sad when I look at the plight of some of them today who follow the wrong footsteps and take wrong or reckless decisions which could impact their life in a negative way long term! In each of these roles I like to make sure to deliver my best and do what really the role demands and what’s challenging is never boring.. isn’t it? Haha!

Image and Beyond by Sana Dua is your venture and initiative. What does it stand for and what is it all about?

Well the name “Image and Beyond” because beauty is only skin deep! Even at pageants we often have these criterias- you’ve got be tall, lean, perfect! Who’s perfect? No one! So this is where I thought of introducing a platform which helps women to feel confident in their skin and we don’t just work on your “Image” but also dove into what lies “beyond” it so you can truly unleash the queen in you. We provide courses and trainings for women who want to participate in beauty pageants and we’ve had many girls win at their pageants & do international representations! But that’s not it! We also towards work day in and out with working professionals who need an image makeover, married women who want to still pursue their dreams, home makers who want to feel confident in social settings, teenagers who want to learn life skills and boost their confidence and almost everybody who wants to experience their true potential whilst evolving and exploring their best version.

As a beacon of inspiration to so many people out there, what is your advice to all those who are looking to enter any professional field of work and be as successful as you are?

I read this quote- if you ever judge a fish by its ability to fly, it will spend its whole life thinking it’s stupid!

You are special and you are capable. And you are you is your superpower. Go after what you truly want and resonate with because that’s going to make you content and successful at the same time! Taking the first step is often the hardest but I’d say go for it because regrets won’t be easy either.
