Paris Fashion Week 2025 opens with Innovation and Bold Statements

Paris Fashion Week 2025 has once again solidified its status as the epicenter of global fashion, kicking off its Fall 2025 season with a dazzling array of creativity, bold debuts, and thought-provoking designs. As of today, March 5, the City of Light is abuzz with industry insiders, celebrities, and fashion enthusiasts, all eager to witness the latest offerings from some of the world’s most iconic houses and emerging talents.

New Designers To Take the Stage at Paris Fashion Week 2025

This season, Paris Fashion Week is marked by highly anticipated debuts from new creative directors at several major brands. At Givenchy, a fresh vision is expected to breathe new life into the storied house, with the fashion world eagerly awaiting the first collection under its latest leadership. Similarly, Dries Van Noten’s handover to Belgian designer Julian Klausner, aged 33, promises a modern twist on the label’s avant-garde legacy. Klausner’s debut on Wednesday is already generating buzz, with critics and buyers poised to scrutinize his interpretation of the brand’s signature aesthetic.

Perhaps the most surprising addition to the Paris lineup is Tom Ford, a mainstay of New York Fashion Week, which will showcase its collection in the French capital for the first time. The French Haute Couture and Fashion Federation has hailed this move as a coup, further cementing Paris’s dominance in the luxury fashion sphere.

Iconic Houses Will Shine Again

The week opened with a strong showing from Saint Laurent, whose designs recently graced the Oscars red carpet, worn by Best Supporting Actress winner Zoe Saldana. The brand’s upcoming show, scheduled as the grand finale next Tuesday, is expected to continue its streak of glamorous, boundary-pushing looks. Chanel, too, will close out the week with a collection prepared by its in-house creative studio. While newly appointed artistic director Matthieu Blazy won’t unveil his first designs until September, anticipation is already building for what lies ahead.

Elsewhere, Louis Vuitton made headlines earlier this month with its collaboration between Pharrell Williams and NIGO, unveiling a striking $18,000 lobster-shaped bag crafted from Vachetta leather. The whimsical yet luxurious piece, debuted during a prior Paris Fashion Week event, continues to spark conversation about the intersection of art and fashion.

Sustainability in the Spotlight at Paris Fashion Week 2025

Amid the glamour, Paris Fashion Week is not without its challenges. Recent research revealed that 70% of brands under the French Fashion Federation lack clear emissions targets, raising questions about the industry’s commitment to combating the climate crisis. As the week progresses, activists and insiders alike are calling for greater transparency and accountability, urging designers to align their creativity with sustainable practices.

Street Style and Cultural Impact

Beyond the runways, Paris is alive with the energy of street style, where attendees are showcasing floor-sweeping hems, saturated hues, and shape-defining cuts—trends that echo the season’s bold aesthetic. The presence of international influencers, including BTS’ j-hope—who topped Lefty’s list of top influencers during the Men’s Paris Fashion Week AW25 with an Earned Media Value of $6.68 million—underscores the event’s global reach. His return to the fashion scene post-military service has only amplified the digital buzz surrounding the week.

A Week of Contrasts

As Paris Fashion Week unfolds, it remains a study in contrasts: tradition meets innovation, luxury grapples with responsibility, and spectacle vies with substance. With shows still to come from heavyweights like Valentino on March 9 and Chanel on March 11, the week promises to deliver more unforgettable moments. For now, Paris continues to captivate, proving that even in a rapidly changing world, its place at the forefront of fashion is unshakable.
