Naava Swim — Fashion with a Deeper Purpose

Some brands are born from business plans; others are born from survival. For U.S. Army combat veteran and Naava Swim founder Justin Houpe, the journey began as an unexpected lifeline. After serving nine years in the military—including tours in Iraq—he returned home carrying the invisible weight of PTSD, severe depression, and anxiety. In his lowest moments, designing swimwear became more than a creative outlet; it became a form of therapy.

I never imagined Naava Swim would grow into what it is today,” Houpe shares. “But it gave me joy, purpose, and a reason to keep going. Now, my mission is to inspire others to see how beautiful and extraordinary they already are.

From the Battlefield to the Runway

At his latest swim show, Naava Swim made waves with a collection unlike any before. The bold designs were inspired by an unlikely muse—NASCAR racing. A self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie, Houpe translated the speed, energy, and roaring engines of the racetrack into swimwear that bursts with color, confidence, and a sense of thrill. “It’s about capturing that rush and excitement,” he explains. “Clothing should make you feel alive.”

Sustainability at Full Speed

While the designs are daring, the brand’s values are deeply grounded. Every Naava Swim piece is crafted from fabric made of recycled ocean waste and plastic bottles. “Being eco-friendly isn’t a trend for us—it’s a core value. We’re committed to protecting the beauty of the world we live in.

Runway Without Rules

Inclusivity isn’t just a buzzword for Naava Swim—it’s a mission. On the runway, the brand showcases models of every height, shape, skin tone, and level of experience. “Too many people are told they’re ‘too short,’ ‘too curvy,’ or ‘not the right size’ to model. At Naava, we welcome everyone. Every woman has a light that can inspire others.” – adds Houpe.

He also emphasizes the role men can play in supporting and uplifting women, making Naava Swim’s shows a celebration not just of fashion, but of community.

More Than Swimwear

Justin Houpe’s vision for Naava Swim goes beyond bikinis and one-pieces. He dreams of building a lifestyle brand with the prestige of a luxury label, but rooted in empowerment, inspiration, and inclusivity.

His philosophy is simple yet powerful: when you look good, you feel good—and when you feel good, you’re more likely to do good. “Naava is a tool,” he says, “to help women see the beauty that’s already within them, and give them the confidence to conquer any goal they set.”

From the battlefield to the beach, Justin Houpe’s Naava Swim is proof that fashion can be more than fabric—it can be a force for healing, empowerment, and change.
