‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ by The Weeknd Claims #1 Spot on Billboard 200

In a monumental week for music charts, The Weeknd’s latest album, ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’, has stormed to the top of this week’s Billboard 200, amassing an impressive 490,500 equivalent album units in the United States. This achievement marks the largest debut of the year and The Weeknd’s most significant first-week sales to date.

The album, which combines R&B, pop, and hip-hop elements, has not only captured the hearts of fans but also dominated streaming platforms and physical sales. According to Billboard, ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ sold 359,000 units in pure sales, showcasing a strong consumer demand for physical copies, including CDs, vinyl, and cassettes. Streaming accounted for 130,500 units, equivalent to an astounding 171.5 million on-demand official streams of the album’s tracks.

‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ is celebrated not just for its commercial success but also for its artistic depth. The album features collaborations with high-profile artists like Playboi Carti, Anitta, Future, and Lana Del Rey, bringing a diverse soundscape that has resonated with a broad audience. Its release was preceded by hit singles like ‘Timeless’ and ‘São Paulo’, setting the stage for its chart-topping debut.

The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, has now secured his fifth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, following his previous successes with ‘After Hours’, ‘My Dear Melancholy’, ‘Starboy’, and ‘Beauty Behind the Madness’. This latest achievement is particularly noteworthy as it comes in the wake of his record-breaking year in 2024, where he became the first artist to have 27 songs each surpass one billion streams on Spotify.

The album’s success is a testament to The Weeknd’s enduring appeal and his ability to continually evolve his music while maintaining a massive following. ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ not only reinforces his status in the music industry but also sets new benchmarks for R&B/hip-hop albums in the streaming era.

In addition to its chart performance, ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ has made waves globally, securing No. 1 positions in multiple countries including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, Belgium, Ireland, and Norway. The album’s impact is further amplified by The Weeknd’s announcement of the After Hours Til Dawn 2025 Stadium Tour, which promises to be one of the year’s biggest concert events.
