While everyone knows there is going to be a lot of scope in digital industry in the future, but no one can deny that the unprecedented pandemic has accelerated the timeline in fashion with destiny. Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) President Sunil Sethi believes that the time has come to strengthen the wheel of fashion. Suddenly, due to such a huge epidemic, things were stopped everywhere, all kinds of businesses were interrupted and in such a situation, the company had no option left, so they had to take advantage of digital media powers.

Virtual events unleashed the creativity of fashion’s forces

Although the example of the virtual world may suddenly seem dramatic to you. Firstly, the show running on Milan Fashion Week 2020 decreased attendance and gradually, viewers in a closed environment were reduced. As the world was placed under preventative lockdown, the events completely changed the digital medium platforms. While some names used an opportunity to pull back from the seasonal calendar, others mocked his creativity in creating a virtual experience for his audience Closer Home, fashion films collaborated with great personalities like Gaurav Gupta and Manish Malhotra, while the offering for India Couture Week 2020 by Amit Aggarwal was filmed entirely underwater.

When asked about making changes to the virtual medium, Aggarwal said, “The pandemic has changed the old way of manufacturing industry, as we all have taken a step back and used this time to work on how our brand narrative can be communicated radically through a virtual medium.”

It is definitely a fascinating experience to create a virtual brand story. While digital has always been considered the future, the pandemic helped the world realize the true limits of what can actually be achieved. As we transition to the new normal, it can be helpful to save physical events after pandemic and it is important for the events that really matter. At the end of the day, the concept of Virtual fashion film proved as satisfying as putting together a physical show.

So, will virtual events last beyond the pandemic?

“The answer is yes, industry insiders believe. It is clear that the digital format is here to stay and will always play a role in the fashion landscape in its ability to move forward. Looking ahead, I expect a beautiful mix of digital video and live shows for online viewers, who will be able to watch the fashion presentation up close and personal”, Sethi says.

The future of fashion will be created keeping in mind the environment in the post-pandemic era, along with the craftsman. Whether virtual or physical, we must be committed to creating experiences that encourage responsible use of resources. Whereas the ultimate winner between physical and virtual can only be determined by time. Sethi put the last word on the debate.  “I would like the sceptics to know that if someone as old as me, who has done over a thousand physical shows, can accept the power of digital, everyone else can’t overlook it either,”.
