Fashion Herald Stylecheck Feature With TV Host-Sonam Chhabra
Why were you driven towards the anchoring profession? What was your first big assignment?
I feel it was a call of destiny as I got the opportunity to anchor for my College Annual Fest back in my Delhi University days. That was when I discovered my love for stage! Honestly I do not look at assignments as big or small, they are all experiences that help you sharpen your skills and broaden your horizons. Well to name one, my television talk show “Safar Kamyabi Ka” has been a very special assignment.
What is your favorite project you have done till date and why?
Every project I undertook has contributed in shaping me as an artist. I try and take home lessons, however big or small, from each project.
Although my association with TedX to deliver TED Talks across universities help me share my life experiences and learning and bring out a different side of my personality.
How was it growing up in Delhi? How is the market for newcomers?
I am a Delhiite by heart, wherever I go, I take a part of Delhi with me! It has always given me paramount love and affection. Due to its rich cultural heritage and history, art holds a special place in Delhi, hence I feel Delhi is full of opportunities to explore.
You are shortly debuting in Bollywood. Tell us more about the project
I am very happy to make my debut in Bollywood with the movie Kirket as the lead actress. The movie involves cricket, and is on the storyline of the plight of cricketers in Bihar. I play the role of a Television anchor in the movie.
What is Fashion to me?
Fashion to me is beyond what one wears or how one looks! Fashion to me is a state of mind, an extension of one’s personality. I believe fashion is an armor to express one’s personality and beliefs without having to speak much.
How do you deal with criticism and harsh crowd?
I am very sporting about criticism and take it in my stride. In fact I love to ask for feedback from my clients and positive or negative, I feel feedback and criticism is imperative to growth. My mother is my biggest critic and I am glad to have her since that helps me to push harder and improve with every performance.
