Mys Tyler Insights 2025: Revealing the True Shape of Indian Women and the Urgent Call for Size-Inclusivity
In a groundbreaking revelation for the Indian fashion industry, social-commerce platform Mys Tyler has released Mys Tyler Insights – India Edition 2025, a comprehensive body data report derived from over 22,800 women across India aged 18 and above. This first-of-its-kind dataset offers a crucial reference point for fashion brands, media, and industry stakeholders, shedding light on what Indian women truly look like in contrast to mainstream fashion portrayals.
The Reality of Indian Women’s Body Shapes
According to the data, the average Indian woman wears a US size 8, which roughly translates to a Medium-Large (M-L) in Indian fashion labels. More significantly, the study highlights that one in four (25.8%) women in India are considered ‘plus-size’, wearing a US 14+ (typically XL-3XL and beyond). Additionally, the average height of an Indian woman is 160 cm (5’3″), and the average cup size is a C.
Mys Tyler founder Sarah Neill remarked, “While Indian fashion is increasingly embracing inclusivity, there is still a stark gap between the reality of women’s sizes and the way fashion is advertised and sold. We hope this data serves as a wake-up call for the industry to keep diversity and representation at the forefront.”

Why This Data Matters
Underrepresentation in fashion is not just a matter of aesthetics or marketing—it has direct economic and psychological repercussions. Poor representation leads to lower body confidence, an inefficient shopping experience, and increased return rates due to poor fit. For the fashion industry, this means lost profits and increased environmental waste.
Neill added, “When women don’t see their body type represented, they struggle with self-perception. Moreover, they face challenges finding clothes that fit well, leading to high return rates, which negatively impact sustainability and profits. With this data, we hope brands will prioritize size-inclusive designs and representation.”
Mys Tyler: Changing the Game in Online Shopping

With over 600,000 downloads, Mys Tyler is a fashion-tech innovation that addresses the long-standing issue of online shopping mismatches. Its proprietary FIT Algorithm matches users with like-bodied fashion creators, allowing them to see how clothes fit on a body similar to theirs before making a purchase. As a result, 86% of users report feeling more body confident, and the platform’s return rate is below 5%—far lower than the industry average.
The fashion industry has long struggled with standardized sizing in India, as there is no widely accepted national sizing standard. Mys Tyler bridges this gap by using global sizing data to provide an accurate representation of Indian women’s body types.
A Call for Industry Action
With the release of Mys Tyler Insights – India Edition 2025, brands now have a powerful resource to create more inclusive fashion collections. This data should act as a catalyst for brands to rethink sizing, marketing, and the representation of women in fashion campaigns.
The future of fashion in India must be diverse, inclusive, and true to the reality of the women it serves. With data like this, change is not just possible—it’s inevitable.
