Let’s spread positivity: The Silver Lining of Lockdown
“Every cloud has a silver lining”
This saying has found an example in today’s world. With the outbreak of covid-19, things have turned gloomy and destructive yes, but like every dark night has its stars, the lockdown has its positive impacts as well. To drift our mind from the negativity, here we have come to present to you the positivity that has taken place during the lockdown.
1. Flying kites take over the skies
Lockdown has given us the opportunity to come back home and understand the value of our loved ones. We have no other choice but to stay at home and spend time with our family. As a result of it, we can clearly see the changes it has on human beings. Before lockdown, the sun usually set alone but nowadays families gather on the terrace in evening. Children play around and parents drink tea. We can see that the usual escape that people used to find in technology has lost its popularity as the skies can be seen rejuvenating with colorful kites in the evening. People are rejoicing with the warmness they are finding in close ones after so long. The daily routine was tiring and left us with no time to spend with family except weekends which went away in other chores but with the lockdown, we get to spend our time with family and loved ones, this is one of the most positive turns that life has taken during lockdown.
2. When all of us turned out to be Master Chefs
With the kitchen as the only source to satisfy the food cravings, all of us turned towards the internet and bam! We ended up discovering that we can cook meals too. During the lockdown, we have started eating more fruits and healthy dishes cooked at home and started our experiments with the art of cooking! This way we are learning to become more self dependent and eat healthy while discovering new dishes with our creativity.
3. Video calls!
The lockdown has given us a chance to connect with our old friends and relatives that we had forgotten due to our daily routine activities. We have started healing the old worn out connections, video calling our loved ones and relatives, calling all those old schoolmates and childhood friends to discover a warm new effect of human relations.
4. The opportunity to help others
All of us want to be heroes, to help someone in need, and with the pandemic outbreak we cannot un-see that people are dying out of hunger out there. This is an opportunity for us to be the heroes we want to be. Helping someone in need, be it a fellow human or animal, it should be a priority to help others in such a tense situation. Contribute food to someone, or donate to NGOs trying to help the needy, take the responsibility of someone you know cannot survive alone. This is a time where we need to stick together and help each other, leaving human selfishness behind, and we are getting the opportunity to do that.
5. Healthy habits
In the lockdown, we are getting an opportunity to cultivate healthy habits in our daily routine, like working out, meditation and yoga. It is necessary to develop these habits for a better immune system and healthy lifestyle.
6. Everything that you wanted to do (inside)
This is a time where people are completing the shows and watching the movies they always wanted to watch, gamers are playing the games that they wanted to experience, bookworms are completing their favorite books, couples are finding things to do to spice up their romantic life, the musician who was lost in corporate world is finding time to pick up on old skills, spend time with your pet, paint, sing, dance… this is a time where you can do anything that you always wanted to do inside your home. Learn new skills, watch that show, take a shower maybe! Everything that you never got enough time to do before lockdown is now available for you to do. (But do remember to study for the exams as well 😉)
7. Nature is healing
This is probably one of the best perks of lockdown, as almost the entire world has suddenly stopped, nature found an escape from the everyday pollution that humans caused. From the healing of ozone layer to the dramatic decrease in the pollution level, nature is healing itself. Animals are returning and wandering on streets, sky is clearing, the air is becoming pure and river waters are also becoming clean and clear. That’s a miracle that nature was waiting for.
Tell us about the positive effects that you have seen in the lockdown!
