Lakme Fashion Week 2024 – Vintage Reimagined: INIFD Launchpad Showcases Emerging Design Talent at LFW 24
Every season, the INIFD Launchpad show is eagerly anticipated by fashion enthusiasts. This season, five talented students from across the country were carefully chosen to present their creative collections at Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI. Their inspirations ranged from timeless denim to cotton, with classic plaids and paisleys adding a colorful twist to the theme of Vintage Reimagined. The event unfolded at the iconic Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, a premier destination for conventions, exhibitions, and social events spanning over 1 million sq.ft.
Ms. Tisha Khosla, Style Mentor at INIFD, congratulated the talented designers for showcasing their creations on a prestigious national platform. She emphasized the significance of such events in providing recognition and exposure to aspiring designers, allowing them to make their mark in the competitive field of fashion and interior design. The theme of Vintage Reimagined drew inspiration from various eras, including the mod subculture movement of the 60s, the emerging denim fashion of the 70s, and the Yuppie era of the 80s, among others.
Now, let’s delve into the remarkable collections presented by these budding designers:
- Yash Gada‘s “Dhagedaar Denim” collection paid homage to the fashion stir created by denim in the 1970s. Featuring bell-bottom jeans, high-waisted versions, and distressed finishes, the collection showcased a clever manipulation of denim fabric.
- Manisha and Rashmi‘s “Checkmate” collection drew inspiration from the unique style of the 1960s film “The Archies,” offering bold experimental designs in cotton, sateen, and denim fabrics.
- Ishita Sikka‘s collection, inspired by hypnotic patterns and psychedelic art, featured a new version of dyeing denim fabric and doodling on it with fabric markers. The collection showcased a variety of silhouettes, from fitted to baggy ensembles.
- Priyal and Kanwari‘s “The New Corner” collection brought power suit drama with a blend of timeless paisleys and classic plaids, inspired by the yuppie era of the 80s.
- Palak Uke‘s “Japanese Vintage” collection paid homage to Japanese fashion throughout the 20th century, blending Western, traditional, and avant-garde elements. The collection featured A-line shapes, oversized silhouettes, and seamless blends of traditional and contemporary designs.
The showstopper of the event was the stunning Karishma Tanna, who made a grand entrance in a black, floor-length coat-dress with dramatic shoulders and heavily embellished lapels, captivating the audience with her graceful presence.
