July Exclusive Feature – Tushar Pandey
Simply put I’m rendering my million different interests through art. I think my entry into the industry happened cause I prepared for it. An idea was introduced very early in my childhood that one should pursue a field if they’ve studied and worked for it. Acting was never planned but I got trained in it. Started doing theatre in The Players, dramatic society of Kirori Mal College, Delhi university. That’s where my initiation into acting and performance happened. I enjoyed theatre thoroughly during my graduation and applied for National School of Drama ( NSD ). Got selected in my first attempt and while studying Acting at NSD for 3 years, it started seriously resonating with me. I realized that even 3 years are not enough and after finishing NSD, I applied and got selected at London International School of Performing Arts. I was also awarded a scholarship and thus I further trained for another 2 years. In all, I’ve studied and trained in acting for almost 6/7 years.
After that I knew I was ready started working professionally as an actor. Few years later, here I am. Very happy with the work that’s so highly appreciated and now I’m here with my solo lead film. Very exited for the next phase of projects.
Describe your journey as a model/actor.
As an actor, I’ve always felt that it’s important to keep honing your skills and never choose a project that makes you feel that you’re doing a job. If that happens, a monotony and lethargy sinks in and you end up not creating something exciting. Every project I take, I try to prep well. Work with coaches, try and master a dialect ( depending on the character ) and work on its physical ability and personality. Every character has the ability to push you differently and that’s what i really enjoy. I think the focus and dedication I put in my characters resonates with the audiences and that I can feel it when I interact with people. As an actor, this is always the best part.
I think my journey is in a early stages and hope that it rises and rises.
What does fashion mean to you?
For me, fashion is about feeling good. If clothes , accessories makes me comfortable , confident and happy. You’re in the right track.
Your Advice to your fans ?
Most importantly, spend time learning and getting ready. If you acquire skills, tools; you’ll know what is expected of you and how you can deliver. This is the basic and most essential requirement. You might look the part but if you can’t portray, no one will enjoy watching you. Ready the actor within so the first and the biggest step is done.
Tell us about your upcoming shows/projects.
