Interview With Anukriti Govind Sharma
Tell us about yourself
I am Anukriti Govind Sharma. I’m a fashion model and an actress. I completed my studies from Loreto Convent, Lucknow. I started my career in modeling from new Delhi, following a 2 year professional training in Jazz and Contemporary forms of dance from The Danceworx, under the guidance of Ashley Lobo.
What does Fashion mean to you?? What is your favorite quote?
Your outfit should define you. It should speak FOR you.
Trends in fashion will come and go every six months, but what stays forever is your individual style and your personality.
I believe that whatever you choose to wear should fit you comfortably, should enhance your confidence and should be in resonance with your own X – factor, ie. Your own unique style, that makes you stand out in a crowd.
My favourite quote on Fashion by Coco Chanel: Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.

Lucknow is a very warm and a welcoming city. People here are extremely courteous and polite. The warmth in the people’s conduct here, is evident.
The grace, elegance and the respect with which I have been treated by the people of Lucknow is beyond any words that I can use to describe!
Why you chose the field of modelling/acting?
I was always inclined towards the Performing Arts. I took professional training in Jazz and Contemporary forms of dance from The Danceworx, New Delhi. There after, i decided to pursue modeling.
I am an artist at heart. I was always looking out for ways and different media of expression of my heart and soul. Dancing was one of the ways but that was not enough for me.
I realised that I wanted to be a model because being a model, i believed that I could use my platform to express a myriad of emotions, lifestyles and of course, not to forget, trends in fashion, which again boils down to one’s own individual style and personality. I have always loved fashion because it’s a great way to express your mood. And I’m definitely a shoe lover. The right pair of shoes can change the feel of an outfit, and even change how a woman feels about herself. A woman can wear confidence on her feet with a high stiletto, or slip into weekend comfort with a soft pair of ballet flats. So I realised that I could use Fashion as my platform for expressing various moods, emotions and mindsets.
I started shooting for music videos, tvc’s, and short films because these allowed me to test my acting abilities. Acting, according to me is the biggest form of gratification and expression. So I gradually upgraded myself to being an actress along with being a model.
Who is the motivational strength in your life?
My family is my Number One! I derive my strength from my mother and father. My father is no more, but his presence in my life is eternal, and my mother is the strongest woman i have ever known. She is my constant source of strength in my professional journey. JD Chekravarthy, my mentor, my guru, is one person that I look up to for professional guidance and motivation. He is largely responsible for shaping me up as an actress and bringing out my emotional spectrum which is very important to have in order to build a successful career in acting. Apart from the professional front, I also derive a lot of spiritual strength from JD, to carry on in times, good or bad. I share a very strong spiritual connection with JD.
How would you like to contribute to your field in the future?
I want to use modeling and acting to touch people’s hearts, To emote and connect with people on a raw, human level, To expose people to emotions that they are scared of facing, but which are nevertheless a part of our existence.
I also plan to come up with my own modeling school, wherein i wish to train aspirants who are looking towards making a career in modeling. I have plans for coming up with my Travel shows for television. Travelling is my passion and a form of meditation for me. It allows me to reach inside of me and touch my soul. I believe that we don’t mature by years. We mature by experiences, stories and perspectives. The different cultures, places and people that we encounter while travelling allows us to do that.
Describe your best works. (Give related pictures or video links)
My best works till now would include Marks and Spencer, Vastara and Mod Act. I love my job, and every assignment i take up is very special and close to my heart… but if I have to list out a few, then the ones i mentioned above would definitely top list!
