Featuring International Nude Artist Nikita Gordijn
What is your style secret that maked you look so perfect in whatever you do?
I look at every opportunity in my life as a new adventure. I am a person who does not waste energy trying to live up to what others are doing. I am what I am, and I do it my own way. I put my heart and soul into it.
Tell us one thing about yourself that few people know in the industry and has been crucial in defining who you are throughout your life.
Most people in the industry know me as a bold model, but very few know that in addition to being a bold model, I am also a daring person. By bold, I mean that I dare to take a risk and I am courageous.
How hard is it for someone to break conventions and enter into artistic nude modelling. How is it as a career and what are the does and the donts ?
I do not think nude modeling breaks with conventions, that’s a personal opinion. 1000 years before classical art nude was a part of Indian art history and traditions as evidenced by thousand year old statues in Ajanta, Khajuraho etc. Yes, maybe in today’s time it is no more a convention as most of the people of today’s generation are busy following western culture and do not even know anything about Indian art.
And it’s not just about artistic nude modeling. Whenever you do anything different than others, it becomes difficult and you have to fight for it.
As a model, you must always check the credentials of the photographer if you want to work with him.
Always ask for a mood board before the shoot.
If you do not like an idea while working on a photo shoot, say “no”.
If a shoot is not going well and you are uncomfortable, you can always stop the shoot and leave.
Never be pressured or coerced into doing something you do not want to do.
Always be friendly, professional and clear when discussing and arranging shoots with others.
Choose a shooting style that you know how to do and feel comfortable with. If you do not know what a particular shoot is about, you should not do it.
Tell us about your upcoming shoots and other projects?
Currently, I am in India after a year to visit my family. In December, I am flying back to Europe and then I’ll be doing modeling tours in Germany, Switzerland, France and Belgium. I also shot my first Dutch film Code Kampen, which was recently released, and my director is shooting a sequel in which I play the role of a super agent.
What is your fitness mantra ?
Eat healthy, sleep well, laugh a lot, be happy and treat your body like a temple. Do not just focus on your physical health, but also take care of your mental health and do yoga and meditation after doing all that.
