Revved Up For Jamboree -Featuring Actress Swastika Dutta | Fashion Herald Exclusive Face Of The Month
How would you like to describe your journey working in the Bengali film industry ?
Firstly I would like to share that I am one of those lucky actors who has got a chance to work both in Bengali “Film” as well as Bengali “Television” industry. Usually most actors in Bengal start their carrier with the small screen but in my case I guess God had some exceptional plans. I started my carrier with movies and later serials, but for ‘actress Swastika Dutta’, ‘Acting’ is very important be it television be it movies be it OTT platforms. I always say films gave me opportunity and television gave me recognition. I have also been part of many fashion events, have worked as a model for years been a part of many brand campaigns various fashion shows and today in Fashion Herald. 😇 I am an certified kathak dancer and I love music, be it in any language I can connect through music that’s why I have dedicated a tattoo towards my love for music which says ‘Breathe Music‘
What is the source of creativity in you life? Who is your biggest role model/ inspiration.
Everything in this universe is filled with Creativity be it Flower or Fire. For an actor It’s important that we stimulate our creative brains through many outlets that we enjoy or come across in our day to daily life. I always keep telling myself learn from everything and anything. As actors it’s our job to be creative, to take on characters and to ‘Portray Life‘ on screen. From short films to blockbusters, from fiction to non-fiction, from drama to documentary I watch everything and try to incorporate my learnings in my characters. With every passing day I try to be more camera friendly and technically strong ,speak naturally or rhetorically, ‘Feel ‘ rather than merely ‘imitate‘.
Ummm! My biggest role model! Now that’s something I really need to think upon. A role model is someone who is worthy of imitation right?!?
So all the actors in the world inspire me to work harder every day. My parents they are my life’s biggest strength and sweetest weakness. Every creative creature in this universe is my role model.
What are the biggest life lessons that work and industry has taught you so far.
See I am in a very competitive world, have never been to any acting institution ever, never been part of any regular acting workshop sessions. Had no idea about the technical and political aspects of this industry. In the year 2015 when I gave my first shot for a Bengali movie “Parbona Ami Charte Toke” I had no clue what this industry has in store for me. As days are passing by and after 8 long consistent years of me being a part of this glittery word I have realized one thing very clearly, you have to constantly keep on entertaining your audiences and followers. Be it through Big Screen, OTT, Television or your social media you cannot afford getting lost. The word “Consistency” is very important. I have seen actors entering the industry and vanishing in a year, this is where the word consistency comes in. By nature I am a very impatient girl but this industry is teaching me how to be patient, it’s teaching me that everything is “Worth the Time”
It’s teaching me “Short cuts make long delays”. I want be found here over and over again. Let’s everyone compete but I will have my own pace. I should have less competition and more concentration.
Name one fashion trend that you love and one you absolutely hate.
Ummm ,one fashion trend which I love is – Bike Shorts with White Jumbo Sneakers and Oversized Tees or hoodies. One fashion trend which I absolutely hate is – Wearing unfitted Leggings with T-shirts or shirts instead of pants
What are the current projects that you are working on ?
Currently three of my new projects are going to be released. Two of them on OTT platforms and one is a Television Movie which is going to release on 30th of Jan. Few other projects are lined up as well.
