December 21 Cover Feature – Rashmi Agdekar
Your style sense is classy yet effortless. What is your biggest fashion style inspiration?
Anything that’s authentic and timeless attracts me . Same goes for fashion! I love when people do not give in to trends and progress/ upgrade in their own personal style. That kind of fashion inspires me to find my own style and I hope I find that soon. It is imperative that I am comfortable in whatever I wear and that it suit my body type and personality.
Recent times have been hard for everyone. What kept you so motivated in these times?
Honestly I struggled a lot to find hope in the past year because of all that was happening. But I tried to find hope in simple things like connecting with friends, doing things I couldn’t do because of schedule. And by constantly reminding myself that there’s always light at the end of a tunnel ,kept me going!
How has the industry changed for you?
I started auditioning regularly after school, I was 16 . Back then there were ads,TV and films. And roles written for women were pretty monotonous.Today because of OTT we have more diverse content and acceptance to all kinds of faces and actors. There is an attempt to write women characters well today. Storytelling and the way we are filming our content is also changing. The scope has widened for sure.*
Tell us more about the experience of your latest project and how did you prepare yourself for the project?
The Interns is a special project for me. I had been craving to tell women stories for a while now. And our show was the right opportunity to do so. It’s a story about these 3 female Interns at a content creation company, their struggles and how they power through it. I play an intern writer in the same. Although I haven’t interned ever before, there were many people at TVF whom I could talk to for my prep ,the very writers of our show since the setting is directly relatable here. I had so much fun playing Ana ,she is polar opposite of all the characters I’ve played before. The Interns is also special because I made such amazing friends on set .
What makes you smile ?
Cats, Food ,Nature, getting my paycheck on time 🙂
Your role models in ( and out of ) the industry.
I really look upto Meryl Streep, Shabana Azmi ,Tabu ‘s work. I also like how Angelina Jolie is using her influence to voice human rights.
