Her acting journey began with 3-4 years of intensive theater experience in Arvind Gaur’s theatre company. There she learned to inhabit diverse characters and explore their depths with precision and passion. This foundation in theater allowed her to master the art of storytelling, honing her skills in dialogue delivery, body language, and character interpretation.
Her rise to prominence began with her success in the Miss Universe India pageant, where she won a title that showcased her poise and charisma. This victory opened doors to the world of cinema, where she quickly became known for her exceptional ability to understand and fit into characters – she was cast as the lead female role in Jayaraj’s action film The Train, opposite the Malayalam legend Mammootty.
In addition to her acting prowess, Sheena is a brown belt in karate and trained in contemporary dance, adding versatility and physicality to her performances. These skills not only enhance her ability to portray a wide range of characters but also demonstrate her commitment to bringing depth and realism to her roles. Sheena used her fighting skills in her upcoming Telegu film, where she plays a cop opposite JD Chakravarthy.

Share with us how you began your journey in the film industry? What inspired you to pursue acting?
I’ve always been fascinated by the art of storytelling and character creation. My journey began at a very young age of 2 years , where I played a baby on stage, so I was performing and creating characters since I was just two years old. This passion continued to grow, leading me to pursue acting professionally. I was inspired by the incredible power of film to evoke emotions and tell stories that resonate with people.
Can you recall a defining moment in your career that solidified your passion for acting?
One defining moment was when my film premiered at the Dubai International Film Festival. Shekhar Kapur, the jury head, congratulated me and praised my performance, often recalling it even years later. His commendation reinforced my belief in my craft and solidified my passion for acting. It made me realize the impact my performances could have and motivated me to continue pushing my boundaries.
You’ve portrayed a variety of characters on screen. Which role has been the most challenging for you, and why?
Portraying the she-devil in a mythical series was particularly challenging. It required not only a deep dive into a complex character but also a physical transformation and intense emotional expression. Balancing the mythical elements with genuine human emotions to make the character relatable was a demanding yet incredibly fulfilling experience.
Keeping fit is the job profile. What is your daily routine that keeps you so fit?
Staying fit is indeed crucial for my profession. My routine includes a mix of yoga, strength training, and cardio exercises. Additionally, I follow a balanced diet and ensure I get ample rest to rejuvenate my body and mind.
What is Sheena’s idea of having a fun time?
For me, having fun means engaging in activities that spark joy and creativity. I love spending time with friends and family, exploring new places, and indulging in arts and culture. Whether it’s watching a thought-provoking film, reading a gripping novel, or simply enjoying a peaceful walk in nature, I find fun in moments that inspire and uplift me.
Do you have a secret talent or quirky habit that would surprise your fans?
I have a knack for creating intricate characters, often surprising my friends and family with impromptu performances. Additionally, I enjoy self enhancement by studying and learning new skills and find it a therapeutic way to express my creativity. It’s a lesser-known talent of mine that many fans might be surprised to learn about.
What are your long-term goals in the industry? Are there any particular roles or projects you aspire to be a part of?
My long-term goal is to continue exploring diverse and challenging roles that push my boundaries as an actress. I aspire to work with visionary directors and be part of projects that tell compelling stories with a meaningful impact. Specifically, I am excited about my upcoming films, ‘Sant Tukaram’ and ‘Nomad,’ and I look forward to taking on more roles that allow me to delve deep into character creation and storytelling.
