Planning Commission to be scraped?
New Delhi: Prime Minister announced nn the 68th Independence Day celebration, that the Planning Commission will be scraped and a new institution will be formed in place of it.
In a statement to the media, Modi said, “We envision the proposed Institution as one that caters to the aspirations of 21st century India and strengthens participation of the States…. Let the ideas flow.”
The Prime Minister has invited ideas from people on what shape the new institution to replace the Planning Commission can take.
As of now, Modi has asked people to give ideas on the formation of the new institution. To get suggestion, the government has opened a new forum on their website, mygov.nic.in, where the people can leave their suggestions.
While addressing India from the Red Fort on Independence Day, Modi has announced that the old Planning Commission will be replaced with a new institution. Modi had said, “We need a new body with a new soul….We will have to think about giving a new shape to the Planning Commission…. Very soon this new institute will start working in place of Planning Commission.”
