Lakme Fashion Week: FDCI Designer Stockroom Sale Returns to Mumbai:
At Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with Fashion Design Council of India, the runway isn’t the only place where fashion moves fast. On March 22, the spotlight shifts from showcase to shopping with the return of the FDCI Designer Stockroom Sale—arguably one of the most commercially charged moments of the week.

Scheduled for a single day at the Jio World Convention Centre, the sale brings together over 60 designer labels under one roof, offering collections at discounts of up to 70 percent. The format is deliberate: limited time, high volume, and immediate access to names that are otherwise positioned at premium retail.
Participating designers include Anamika Khanna (AKOK), Abraham & Thakore, Ritu Kumar, Nitin Bal Chauhan, Akaaro, Shruti Sancheti, Pankaj & Nidhi, and Not So Serious by Pallavi Mohan, among others.
The product mix spans categories—from occasionwear and embellished saris to contemporary pret and transitional wardrobe pieces. What makes the Stockroom Sale strategically relevant is not just pricing, but accessibility. It collapses the distance between aspirational designer fashion and immediate purchase behaviour, bringing high-value inventory into a fast-moving retail environment.
According to Sunil Sethi, the initiative is designed to open up designer wardrobes to a wider audience while maintaining value perception. The consistent footfall over the years suggests that demand for designer-led fashion at accessible pricing is not seasonal—it is structural.
For shoppers, the appeal is straightforward: the possibility of acquiring statement pieces—whether a structured jacket, an embroidered ensemble, or a trousseau addition—at significantly reduced prices. For designers, it serves as both inventory movement and brand visibility within a high-footfall setting.
Running from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM on March 22, the one-day format reinforces urgency. In a calendar dominated by exclusivity and invitation-only showcases, the Designer Stockroom Sale introduces a different kind of energy—one driven by access, speed, and volume.
In the larger context of Lakmé Fashion Week, it acts as a reminder that beyond narrative and craft, fashion remains deeply tied to consumption. And for one day in Mumbai, that equation becomes sharply visible.
