FH Influencer Voice – Featuring Blogger Sanskriti Sharma
Sanskriti is the fourth generation physician in her family. Carrying on this huge responsibility of the legacy which lies on her shoulders, she is also trying to do something different in her life. Sanskriti had a good fashion sense since the beginning for which she was frequently complimented. This motivated her to start her Instagram account in 2018, changing her life, her perspective and her future.
Sanskriti has always been a fashion enthusiast but she never imagined getting into this field and making it this far. Her work was appreciated by her followers which helped her in building a good audience base for herself . “Being in my final year of medicine makes it a little difficult to manage my passion for fashion but I have been somehow managing both my lives pretty well. And I still don’t know what I’m destined to be but I never resisted the flow of life, the flow of time. I am oblivious to what the future holds for me but I’d keep experimenting with clothes and treating my patients, let’s see for how long can I take both these hand in hand. Wish me luck ! “.
Tell us what your blog is really all about.
-To introduce something that’s really close to my heart and has all my hard work is not an easy job. Words are overflowing my mind but I’ll be precise. My blog is an evidence of my fondness for fashion and experimentation. It is all about ACCEPTING STYLES THAT ARE DIFFERENT YET APPEALING. I, through my blog and all my videos want to make people feel comfortable even in the most exceptional attires. Earlier it used to be all about relatable fashion but when I discovered the arena of experimental styling, there was no looking back. One can wear a corset with Indian wears and I CAN PROUDLY SAY THAT I WAS THE FIRST ONE TO SHOWCASE THAT ON MY BLOG, long before people who came up with wearing sarees and corsets together. My blog would portray more of chic style when we go down the lane but the recent posts are all about trying different styles, slaying in all possible attires and radiating power in all my looks. I love power dressing actually, it flaunts my confidence. You’d surely like the styling videos I make, I tend to be more relatable yet experimental in them. The Maiden (my blog) has more of western looks than Indian but I’m trying to bring up something different in ethnic clothing too, it’s a work in progress. I want people to NOT HESITATE and step out of their comfort zones when it comes to dressing up. I’m hoping that my blog says that out loud. Rest, you can definitely check on Instagram, else I’d go on expressing myself here.
Tell us about your top liked blog post and your biggest achievement till date.
-Actually, my most loved content recently was a video on Catfishing clothes, i.e., to NOT wear a garment in the way it’s supposed to be worn. It was an experimental masterpiece that I’m proud of. I literally made a corset out of a waistcoat and that too wearable!
-My biggest achievement was when CosmoIndia’s official page posted my picture on their page during a quarantine challenge and also when THE CHIQUE FACTOR re-shared one of my styling videos on her blog.
What methodology do you follow while deciding a topic for your next blog post ?
-Nowadays I’m guided by the trends that are going on, however, until few weeks ago I used to conceptualise my blogs by being inspired by things that were around us but left unnoticed, styles that were never tried and trends that lost their charm. It’s kind of a mix but somehow the results come out to be good.
Everyone wants to be an influencer these days but actually being a successful influencer is not that easy. What hardships did you have to overcome to be a successful influencer that you are?
-First and the biggest fear one faces in the beginning is the reach, it’s poor. Second one is what if people don’t relate to me or not find me and my style appealing/unique/worth appreciating?Third fear is being out of content, going through a creative block or being inconsistent. Fourth one – Why am I not getting branded collaborations ?
These are the hardships I faced and are definitely encountered by each influencer out there but in the end what keeps us going is our love for what we do. I keep reminding myself of how nothing mentioned above should matter because I started just to cater my creativity to my authentic audience. All these hardships may affect one’s mental health but we need to emerge out stronger. I don’t bother about the reach, the little hate that not just me but almost everyone gets, instead I focus on all the compliments I get for my creativity, haha!
Who do you follow as a role model in the influencer arena ?
-Don’t call me a narcissist, but I have no role model, hehe. I did start my blog after seeing how amazing @ThatbohoGirl is, I like @Komalpandey’s creativity too but I could never idolize anyone, maybe because I don’t want to be like anyone else. I am Sanskriti, and I’d like to be one and only.
How has the lockdown phase been for you? Has market disruption affected your work as well? Are you doing anything to help your clients overcome this challenge?
-To be very honest, Lockdown phase has been the best in my career. I’ve explored my most experimental side, found my personal style, I was enlightened about my capabilities, my weaknesses. Not just that, I grabbed many opportunities, also became a Shein Influencer which was a BIG DEAL for me, got better at self portraits, posing and what not.
It hasn’t been a cake walk for most of the people but call me fortunate. People lost jobs, lives, sanity but I found myself during this phase of life even in the worse circumstances.
I’ve tried my best to leave positive impact on my audience’s minds be it related to well-being, health or Instagram or anything and everything. I’m an optimist and I try spreading my vibe so as to make people feel good about themselves. No matter what the problem is, everything can solved with a calm mind, this is what I publicise.
