Seminar by Nighat Khan on Personality Develoment in LU
Lucknow : The well known icon in sports world and chief editor of FH, Ms. Nighat Khan was delivering lecture to Lucknow University teachers regarding the physical education and overall personality development of the young aspiratns. Addressing the inaugural seminar of the Lucknow on “Physical & Personality Development” at the Department of Physical Education, Lucknow University, Ms. Nighat Khan, said that physical education is the only education, which is considered to be human engineer.
She said that sports is the medium of total education and sports management is a new innovation and appreciated the decision of the university to conduct such seminars. She urged the LU community to produce high-caliber sports personalities. She said LU has a good infrastructure to promote sports activities.
Addressing the teachers and professors of LU, Ms. Nighat Khan said that she is a firm believer in sports as a tool of character building and a medium of building a healthy society and listed elements of poverty, poor dieting and lack of incentives to the sports-persons as the main causes of poor performance of Indian sportsmen.
She said that this seminar is an attempt to provide a platform to the sports aspirants, physical education teachers, sports trainers and budding research scholars from all parts of the country to discuss and present the findings of scientific endeavours undertaken by them. It also seeks to deliberate on the innovations and developments that had taken place and those, which are very much required as per the needs of modern times.
She added that the performance in Olympic Games had convinced that India can do much better in the medal tally, provided it follows an appropriate programmer of talent selections and nurtures them through well-designed scientific regimes towards desired aim.
She also emphasized upon the freedom of thoughts in the present system of education and shared some of her life experiences with the teachers as well.
Al the senior professors of the university were present in the seminar and found the seminars to be very informative and motivating.
