RINA DHAKA VISUALISED AN UNCONVENTIONAL FASHION STORY AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK
Rina Dhaka’s collections showcased at fashion weeks have always left an impressive impact on fashion followers. This season, Rina Dhaka unveiled a stunning collection that reflected fashion of a different genre at Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI. The mood for Rina revolved around large doses of “Dark Romanticism” on the ramp.
The vintage vibe exuded by the ensembles, drew the inspirations from the mysterious beauty of nature and florals combined with hints of sparkle and swirling lines. The intensely textured fabrics revealed a story of clever surface ornamentation. Appliqués appeared with fine line drawing and were outlined with wrinkled motifs.
The textiles chosen moved on a sensuous path as lush, supple silks, plush velvets and dense laces were presented in rich hues that would be ideal for dawn to dusk glamour. In addition, there was gunmetal, crochet, tulle, silk, Lycra and faux fur that added to the glam fashion metre.
The prints drew a stark story of curved lines that created textures or a skeletal like effect. To match the sombré theme of the line, the goth colour card had black that was interspersed with cherry blossom red, blazing neon yellow along with grey, burgundy and forest green that was aimed at creating an image of carefree decadence.
Peplums were brought in a contemporary style for rouched asymmetric tailored jackets, fitted Basques, long skirts or the flared ones were for a more flirty, flouncy effect. Interesting eye-catcher was an embellished mini cape that will be approved by the party regulars.
The lovely Waluscha D’Souza was a gorgeous showstopper when she glided in a black, fitted, panelled, long skirt and tulle choli with glittering embellishments on the bustier. The long tulle train with tiny motifs at the back added a dramatic touch to the look.
Rina Dhaka said, “This collection is the integration of a lot of our work references from the past reflecting our journey, and yet reflect a larger storyline. Dark romanticism comes from the never giving up spirit amidst all the chaos. We are very excited to have presented this collection with the world through Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI.”
Rina Dhaka’s Fall ‘23 look was a great offering of fashion with intense romantic nuances that
projected an innovative style statement.
Waluscha D’Souza added, “I’m happy to be here and to have walked for Rina Dhaka at Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI. I have always loved Rina’s work; her clothes blend well with my personal style and it was an absolute pleasure to wear this beautiful showstopper outfit.”
