Lakme Fashion Week 2024: Day 5 Shines with Student Innovation and Star-Studded Showstoppers
Day 5 of Lakme Fashion Week 2024 was a star-studded affair, marking the grand finale of the prestigious event. But before celebrities took center stage, the spotlight shone brightly on the future of fashion.
The First Cut: Fashion with a Technological Edge
The day began with “The First Cut” showcase, a collaboration between Pearl Academy and the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). This platform provided a stage for budding fashion design students to showcase their creativity. The theme, “AI is Contagious,” explored the relationship between technology and fashion. The show unfolded in two acts, reflecting on the potential anxieties and possibilities that AI presents.
The first act depicted the fear of AI replacing traditional craftsmanship, while the second act took a more optimistic approach, showcasing how AI can be integrated into the identity of Gen Z. Sustainability also emerged as a key theme, with students blending technology and eco-conscious practices in their designs.
Star Power on the Runway
As the evening progressed, the Lakme Fashion Week runway transformed into a star-studded spectacle. The who’s who of Bollywood graced the stage, turning heads with their showstopping looks.
- Janhvi Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur set the ramp on fire for label Kalki, with Janhvi mesmerizing the audience in a striking oxblood lehenga.
- Diana Penty stole the show as the showstopper for Charu and Vasundhara’s debut collection, “Azura.”
