Lady Gaga Strikes Sports Emmy at the Super Bowl— One Step Away from EGOT Glory!
Lady Gaga has added another dazzling trophy to her already impressive awards shelf — this time, it’s a Sports Emmy. The powerhouse performer clinched the award for Outstanding Music Direction thanks to her deeply emotional rendition of “Hold My Hand” during the Super Bowl LVIII pregame show, a performance that not only captivated viewers but honored lives lost in a New Year’s tragedy.

Taking the top spot over tough competition — including Evolution of the Black Quarterback, The Lionheart, and The Turnaround — Gaga’s win marks a major milestone in her quest for EGOT status. With an Oscar, multiple Grammys, and now a Sports Emmy to her name, the only jewel left for her crown is a Tony Award.
The performance took place on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, where Gaga delivered the Top Gun: Maverick anthem at a grand piano, joined by a full band and choir. It was more than just a musical number — it was a solemn tribute to the 14 lives lost during a New Year’s attack. First responders, Louisiana State Police, and New Orleans police officers were given front-row seats to the powerful moment. Football legends Tom Brady and Michael Strahan also made appearances, tying the world of sports and music in a poignant harmony.
Produced by Seth Dudowsky, Bill Richards, Joel Santos, Jesse Weiss, and Brad Zager, with Joe Nargi serving as music editor, the segment elevated Gaga’s already stellar reputation for blending art and advocacy. “Hold My Hand,” which also closed Top Gun: Maverick in emotional style, was previously nominated for both a Grammy and a Golden Globe.
And Gaga isn’t slowing down. Fresh off two electric shows in Singapore’s National Stadium on her Mayhem Ball Tour, she’s preparing to ignite U.S. stages this July. But that’s not all — she’s set to appear at Netflix’s Tudum 2025: The Live Event, and fans can catch her in a mysterious cameo in Wednesday Season 2, which returns August 6.
Whether on stage, on screen, or behind the mic, Lady Gaga continues to prove there’s nothing she can’t do. With the EGOT now in sight, it’s only a matter of time before she joins that ultra-exclusive club — and judging by her recent momentum, she’s already halfway through the door.
