INS Kolkata : The Pride of the Indian Navy
INS Kolkata, the latest addition to the Indian navy, is really a pride to India. This ship is the biggest till date in Indian Navy. Magzon Dock started the construction of this war ship in 2003. In June 2014.It was handed the ship to Indian Navy after successful trails.
Narendra Modi and Indian Navy officials launched this ship successfully on 16th August, 2014, into the mighty fleet. As per the details, this ship was manufactured with Indian technology. Compared to China and Pakistan, India now holds the top position with respect to Navy, with the entry of this ship.
INS Kolkata, under the Project 15 Alpha, belongs to the destroyer class and is the first of three ships currently under construction.
Project 15-A ships are follow-on ships of the successful Project 15 destroyers including INS Delhi, INS Mysore and INS Mumbai, which form the frontline combatants of the Indian Navy.
Brahmos, the supersonic version missiles, which are considered to be the best and first of its kind in the entire world, can be fired from this ship. Adding to this, few more upgraded weapons can be fired from INS Kolkata. By September, INS Kolkata will get the status of handling air attacks.
