‘Creature 3D’: Thriller Turns Out to be a Comedy

Bipasha Basu’s monster thriller film “Creature 3D” has disappointed critics, who have mostly thrashed the film for its weak storyline.

While some critics have praised director Vikram Bhatt for making Bollywood’s first creature feature, some have criticised it calling a funny and hilarious film.

The film marks the debut of Pakistani model turned actor Imran Abbas Naqvi and also features Mukul Dev in supporting role.

Rohit Vats of Hindustan Times said: “The story of Creature 3D is as redundant as the role of the palace in Khooni Haveli. There is a reason behind the name of the film, and I think it’s a noble gesture on part of the director to honestly put it in front of his audience that he doesn’t know what exactly he has created.

“The film follows a classic screenplay structure, of Indian ghost films, which means the beginning is also the end, of your mental peace and trust on Bollywood writers. Watch Creature 3D only if you can’t sleep without watching a monster movie. Creature 3D gets one for the film, and 0.5 extra for the VFX.”

Meena Iyer of The Times of India said: “With the film being done in 3-D, you find the creature’s talons and tail reaching out for you in your auditorium seat. For a teeny-weeny part, that smile disappears. And as your palpitations rise, severed blood-soaked limbs pile up.

“Bipasha is steamier when flirting with danger (read creature). Also, had this film been 15 minutes shorter, it could have been more spine-chilling.”

Saurabh Dwivedi of India Today said: “After watching Creature 3D you will not remain Homo sapiens but will change into a new creature.

“Director Vikram Bhatt thinks the audience is fool and that is why he has tried to sell old story in a new package. 3D effects are also very average. If you have watched this film in theatre then the MONEY that you spent will frighten you till next Friday.”

Bollywood Hungama News Network said: “CREATURE is indeed a film which is meant for the masses who yearn for some ‘zara hatke’ subjects. CREATURE is a good example of what Bollywood is capable of when it comes to vfx heavy films. It surely is a promising start for more sci-fi vfx heavy movies.

“Fear definitely has a new face. If you want to get spooked and that too in 3D then, CREATURE surely wouldn’t let you down.”

Kiran Kaur of Bollywoodlife.com said: “Vikram Bhatt movies are usually known for their music, but Creature 3D disappoints you there as well with easily forgettable songs. Bipasha is average and debutant Imran Abbas has barely anything to do than play her second fiddle.

“Rehashing this tried and tested formula, Vikram Bhatt tries to give his latest venture a new face in the genre, but fails due to lack of imagination.”
